Q: What types of programs does the college offer?
The Art Institute of Charlotte offers degrees and certificates in graphic design, interior design, fashion
marketing, Web Design & Interactive Media, and culinary arts.
Q: What kinds of degrees does the Art Institute of Charlotte offer?
You can earn a Bachelor of Arts degree in Culinary Management, Fashion Marketing & Management,
Graphic Design, Web Design & Interactive Media and Interior Design. You can earn an Associate in Applied Science degree
in Fashion Marketing, Interior Design, Graphic Design, Web Design & Interactive Media or Culinary Arts.
You can earn a Certificate in the Art of Cooking, Residential Design, Digital Design and Web Design.
Q: What kinds of computer applications does the college offer?
Current applications include QuarkxPress, Flash, Dreamweaver, InDesign, Final Cut Pro, PhotoShop,
Illustrator, 3d Studio Max, Sound Forge, DVD Studio Pro, Premiere and AutoCAD. Students learn to use
both PC and Mac platforms.
Q: Is there free Internet access?
Yes, Internet access is available in the library for research and in the labs for class work. The entire
campus building is fully wired for Internet access.
Q: Will I need to buy a computer or does the college have enough for me to do my assignments?
The Art Institute of Charlotte provides the access to computers and other technical equipment in the
10 classrooms and labs necessary to complete assignments. To complete the requirements of their programs,
students may have to schedule use of equipment outside normal class hours. Many students find it convenient
to have a computer at home for doing assignments outside of class. The college’s technology staff is happy
to advise students on computer configurations for different applications, as well as sources.
Q: Where can I get financial aid?
A planner from the student financial services department meets with every prospective student to
assess both educational costs and resources appropriate for each individual situation. The Art
Institute assists students with applying for federal, state, and other grant and loan aid.
Q: What does the career services department do?
The career services department provides many valuable resources to aid students in reaching their
education and career goals. Services include parttime job assistance, career planning, personal
counseling, housing assistance, and a variety of planned activities.
Q. What are some of the planned services for students?
Planned activities include on-campus workshops, club meetings and intramural sports, parties,
volunteer opportunities at local non-profit organizations, and field trips.
Q: Does the college offer housing?
Many students choose to live in college-sponsored housing. There are many advantages to this choice:
convenience, shuttle service to campus, social, educational, and recreational activities, a home-like
apartment atmosphere, live-in staff for support, and amenities such as a pool and workout room.
Q: Are there restaurants and stores close to the college?
The Art Institute is located in a suburban business park. Public transportation is four blocks away.
Several shopping malls including multiplex movie 11 theaters and restaurants are within easy driving
distance.
Q: Will you offer me assistance finding a part-time job?
The Career Services department works with students to assist them in finding part time work.
Many employers recruit part- time employees on campus.
