Cruel is Not Cool: Exhibit at The Illinois Institute of Art - Chicago Stresses Fur-Free Fashion
Chicago, Ill. – Visitors to Gallery 350 at The Illinois Institute of Art — Chicago are invited to support fur-free fashion at the Cool vs. Cruel exhibit, showcasing students' creativity while demonstrating their compassion and concern for the environment.
In an effort to encourage the next generation of designers to create fur-free, animal friendly fashions The Art Institutes teamed up with the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) for the Cool vs. Cruel competition.
Fashion design students at The Illinois Institute of Art — Chicago and at Art Institutes throughout North America replaced real fur with imaginative faux fur to create animal-friendly designs. Top designs from each school were then judged by celebrities including Casey Affleck, China Chow, Cynthia Rowley, Jaoquin Phoenix, Rain Phoenix, Liv Tyler and Stella McCartney.
The traveling exhibit comes to Gallery 350, 350 N. Orleans St., Chicago, September 9 – October 24, 2008. The opening reception will be held Thursday, September 11 at 5 p.m.
