Local Interior Design Program Receives National Ranking

Chicago, Ill. – Area students who want to become interior designers don’t have to go far to achieve their goal. The interior design program at The Illinois Institute of Art – Chicago is ranked as one of the top 15 undergraduate interior design programs in the country by DesignIntelligence. The college’s interior design program is the only one in Illinois that is ranked nationally by the publication. Please add a source citation to the article

“Our department and our entire college community are so proud of this achievement,” said Melissa McAtee, the college’s academic director for interior design. “This award was made possible by our dedicated faculty who work so diligently to ensure that our students are well-prepared for the real world.”

The college’s interior design program leading to the bachelor of fine arts degree is accredited by the Council for Interior Design Accreditation, www.accredit.id.org, 146 Monroe Center NW, Suite 1318, Grand Rapids, MI 49503-2822. The program provides students with specialized courses that emphasize the technical development, aesthetics, problem-solving and collaborative skills necessary to become employed in commercial and residential interior design. More than 180 students are currently enrolled in the interior design program at the college.
