International Admissions
All international applicants to The Illinois Institute of Art — Chicago
must meet the same admissions standards as all other students (see section
under Admissions Requirements). Additionally, international students must
demonstrate proficiency in the English language. Please see admission requirements
below for complete list of acceptable proof of English language proficiency.
International Admissions Requirements
An international student seeking to enroll at The Illinois Institute
of Art must submit each of the following items:
- A completed and signed Application for Admission
form, including a 300 word essay
- A completed and signed Enrollment Agreement;
- Official copies of all educational transcripts
(secondary school and if applicable, university level academic records).
These transcripts must demonstrate proof of secondary school graduation.
You should provide the transcript in the original language (if applicable)
an official English translation, and an international credential evaluation.

Non-immigrant students seeking F-1 student status must also submit
the following documents:
- Official bank statement demonstrating proof of at least
$35,000 USD. This amount represents the funds that you will need to pay
for all tuition and living expenses for your first nine-months in the
United States.
- Application for USCIS Certificate of Eligibility
- Photocopy of valid passport. If you have not
applied for a passport, you must supply a copy of your birth
certificate.
If you are transferring to The Illinois Institute of Art from another
college or university in the United States, nonimmigrant students
seeking F-1 student status should provide the following additional
documents:
- Photocopies of F-1 visa stamp, I-94 card (front
and back), and Form I-20 from current school (all pages).
- Completed Transfer Verification Form.
- All non-immigrant visa holders, who are permitted
to enroll in school in accordance with U.S. immigration laws,
must provide proof of English proficiency.
If you are admitted to The Illinois Institute of Art further information
concerning the student visa process will be provided. This school
is authorized under federal law to enroll nonimmigrant alien students.
