Transfer Students
In the U.S. higher education system, transferability of credit
is always determined by the receiving institution. It is your responsibility
to confirm whether or not credits will be accepted by another school.
The mission of The Illinois Institute of Art - Chicago is to help
you to prepare for entry-level employment in your chosen field
of study. It is very unlikely that the academic credits you earn
at The Illinois Institute of Art - Chicago will transfer to another
school. The Illinois Institute of Art - Chicago does not imply,
promise or guarantee transferability of its credits to any other
institution.
Programs offered by one school within The Art Institutes system
will not be identical to similar programs at another school within
the system due to differences imposed by state law, use of different
instructional models, and local employer needs. Therefore, if you
decide to transfer to another school within The Art Institutes
system, not all of the credits you earn at The Illinois Institute
of Art - Chicago may be transferable into that school's program.
As soon as you anticipate transferring to another Ai-system school,
you should consult with your academic department director.
The Illinois Institute of Art is committed to your success as
a transfer student. We are available to assist you with the admissions
process and the evaluation of transfer credits. We will review
transfer credit coursework in the general education and major field
curriculum. If you wish to have the credits you earned evaluated
for transfer into The Illinois Institute of Art - Chicago, you
will need to submit official transcripts. We will award transfer
credits as follows:
- The course submitted must be a college level course.
- A grade of "C" or better is required.
- A maximum 75% of acceptable credit required to complete a degree
may be accepted from an institution within the AI system.
- A maximum 50% of acceptable credit required to complete a degree
may be acceptable from another higher education institution.
- The course is equivalent to a course within your program of
study.
