The Art Institute of Ohio — Cincinnati assesses the reading, writing, and math skills of entering students to determine if the student could benefit from additional assistance in math or English. Placement is determined based on transfer credit, ACT or SAT test scores, the ASSET placement exam produced by ACT, or Acuplacer online placement exam produced by The College Board. Applicants who are awarded transfer credit in English and math are exempt from placement testing. Students pursuing an associate’s degree may be required to take one course in English and/or one course in math. Transitional studies courses are noncredit courses designed to enhance the student’s opportunity to succeed academically, and are generally taken within the first year of study.
