Scholarships

Qualified students may apply for scholarships or financial assistance based on academic achievement, religious affiliation, ethnic or racial heritage, community leadership or activities, or membership in certain clubs or organizations.

The Art Institutes also award scholarships to qualified applicants by degree program based on portfolio submissions. The following is a list of The Art Institutes scholarships. To learn more, or to download an application, visit The Art Institutes Web site at: www.artinstitutes.edu .

All scholarship winners must adhere to the scholarship rules established by The Art Institutes. Scholarship winners must apply to, and be accepted by, a location of The Art Institutes system of schools in order to validate the scholarship. Scholarships can be applied toward tuition only.

The Art Institutes Scholarship Competition
High school seniors and international students can compete in The Art Institutes Scholarship Competition. Scholarship awards are based on the quality of projects submitted by students. For award details, call The Art Institute of Ohio - Cincinnati , or any other Art Institutes location.

National Art Honor Society Scholarship
High school seniors who belong to the National Art Honor Society may apply for an Art Institutes National Art Honor Society Scholarship. One full-tuition, two-year scholarship and two half-tuition, two-year scholarships will be awarded. For details, contact any Art Institutes location.

Scholastics Arts Competition
One full-tuition, two-year scholarship and two half-tuition, two-year scholarships will be awarded by The Art Institutes for selected winners of the Scholastics Arts Competition. Art Institutes awards will be given on a first-come, first-serve basis to Scholastics winners. For more information, call Scholastics, Inc. at 212-343-6100. Technology Student Association Competition
Members of the Technical Student Association who win first place at the national championships in the high school category of Cyberspace Pursuit and Imaging Technology may be eligible for an Art Institutes scholarship. Winners may choose their Art Institutes location on a first-come, first-serve basis. Students who have questions about the organization or the competition should contact the Technical Student Association at 1-703-860-9000.

National Art Honor Society Scholarship

High school seniors who also belong to the National Art Honor Society may apply for an Art Institutes National Art Honor Society Scholarship. Senior class members of the National Art Honor Society are eligible to compete for these tuition scholarships: $25,000 first place winners, $15,000 second place winner, $10,000 third place winner, $5,000 fourth place winner, $2,500 fifth place winner. Deadline is March 1, 2005.

Evelyn Keedy Memorial Scholarship

High school seniors who show dedication to their education and a desire for a creative career may apply for the Evelyn Keedy Memorial Scholarship. One scholarship to be used at The Art Institutes location of your choice is awarded annually. Deadline is May 1, 2004.

National Portfolio Scholarship Competition

High school seniors majoring in graphic design may be considered for these regional or national competitions. From each participating Art Institutes location, approximately 10 entrants will be chosen as semi-finalists to compete in that Art Institutes Regional Portfolio Review Competition. Scholarships range in value from $2,000—$3,000 at the regional level and $2,000—$25,000 at the national level.

VICA (Vocational Industrial Clubs of America )

Skills U.S.A. Championship Students who belong to VICA may compete in local, state, and national championships. Winners at the national level are awarded a variety of scholarships. Winners of the culinary, advertising design, and photography fields will be awarded $30,000 tuition scholarships. Winners of the 3-D imaging / animation and the video production field will be awarded $15,000 tuition scholarships. Information about the VICA Skills U.S.A. Championships may be obtained from your local VICA chapter. Each Art Institutes location has a limited number of scholarships. Winners are permitted to choose their Art Institutes location on a first-come, first-served basis. For more information, visit www.skillsusa.org.

Imagine America Scholarship

This scholarship is for high school seniors and is on a first come, first serve basis. All recipients must apply and be accepted at The Art Institute of Ohio – Cincinnati . The recipients must begin his or her program of study in the summer or fall quarter following high school graduation. A full-tuition, two-year scholarship is defined as two academic years or 90 credits and a half-tuition, two-year scholarship is defined as one academic year or 45 credits. Scholarship awards are evenly distributed over the recipient's program of study. Winners of the scholarship receive $1,000 evenly divided over the length of the program of study. The Art Institute of Ohio — Cincinnati Merit Award

The Merit Award is awarded to new and continuing students based on a student's academic merit and financial need. A total of $117,734 may be awarded in FY2005.

To qualify for the Merit Award a student must complete a Merit Award application and:

•  Completed financial aid forms.

•  Submit a high school transcript that reflects a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 or higher, or GED test scores of 260 or higher.

•  Submit completed Merit Award application to Financial Aid Department.

Upon approval, awards will be applied quarterly to the student's account and will be automatically renewed each quarter pending the attainment of a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher to maintain the award. Lost awards may be reinstated when GPA is restored to the minimum of 2.5 or higher.
