PROSTART (ADVANCE PLACEMENT CREDITS)
Students who complete the ProStart® program with a C average or above and obtain
a Certificate of Achievement may receive Advance Placement credit at any of over
40 U.S. schools of The International Culinary Schools at The Art Institutes.* Advance
Placement rewards students for their skills, saving them time and money.
Students may receive academic credit up to 12 credits (valued at over $5,000) for
any of the following courses:**

Additional credits may be articulated to ProStart students on a case-by-case basis

and program offerings vary by school.
** To receive advance placement credit, students must submit a ProStart Certificate
of Achievement which will be reviewed by the local school’s Chef Director and Dean
of Academic Affairs. The Fundamentals of Classical Techniques class requires the
student to successfully pass the courses Final Knife Skills and Final Practical
Cooking Exam in order to obtain advance placement credit.

NATIONAL PROSTART INVITATIONAL
First-place entrants of the National ProStart Invitational Culinary Competition
and Management Competition will be awarded a non-renewable $10,000 tuition scholarship
to any one of over 40 U.S. schools comprising The International Culinary Schools
at The Art Institutes. A non-renewable $7,500 tuition scholarship for second-place
and a non-renewable $5,000 tuition scholarship for third-place will also be awarded.
Applicants must be enrolled in a ProStart program to be eligible for the competition.

PROSTART WITH A PURPOSE SCHOLARSHIP
Five non-renewable $10,000 scholarships will be awarded to a current or past ProStart
participant who will graduate high school in 2013. The scholarships are valid at
any of over 40 locations of The International Culinary Schools at The Art Institutes.

HOW TO ENTER
Applicants must submit the following information. Your complete package of materials
should be mailed to The Art Institutes, c/o Terri DeRubeis, 210 Sixth Ave., 33rd
Floor, Pittsburgh, PA 15222.

A completed entry form indicating the school and program of study desired.

A short essay (maximum of 500 words) legibly handwritten or typed in English that
addresses why you’d like to study Culinary Arts or Hospitality at one of The International
Culinary Schools at The Art Institutes.

Students must have proof of participation in ProStart. A copy of a partial transcript
with ProStart listed as a class will suffice as would a ProStart Certificate of
Achievement.

A letter of recommendation from a ProStart teacher, mentor, chef, or coach is also
required.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS & CRITERIA
Scholarship awards are contingent upon acceptance to the chosen Art Institutes school
and are awarded in the form of a tuition credit applied evenly over the course of
the student's academic program. All tuition scholarships are awarded toward a bachelor’s
or associate’s degree, diploma program, or certificate program. Tuition scholarships
are non-transferable. Upon accepting the scholarship, the recipient must begin his
or her studies in the summer or fall quarter following high school graduation. Recipients
must maintain a 2.5 GPA or higher during his or her studies at the chosen Art Institutes
school; a GPA of less than 2.5 will result in a loss of scholarship. In the event
that the scholarship recipient’s education is terminated, either by the school or
by the student, the scholarship becomes null and void. Tuition scholarships are
not redeemable for cash. The tuition scholarship covers academic tuition and may
not be applied against fees, housing, living expenses, or program supplies and may
not be transferred between affiliate schools. Scholarship recipients must not interrupt
their studies; interruption of studies will result in a loss of the scholarship.
All entry materials become the property of The Art Institutes. The judging team

THE GREAT FOOD TRUCK RACE SCHOLARSHIP CONTEST
The Great Food Truck Race Scholarship Contest is open to legal residents of the
50 United States and the District of Columbia who are 18 years of age or older and
have achieved a high school degree or GED equivalent. The contest entry form, as
well as all of the official rules can be found on FoodNetwork.com/Scholarship.
Interested participants are encouraged to submit a short essay (2,000 characters
maximum) explaining how a scholarship to The International Culinary Schools at The
Art Institutes would help them expand their knowledge of global cuisines. The contest
begins on August 17, 2012 and closes at 5:00 p.m. EST on February 28, 2013.
A tuition scholarship of $20,000 may be applied toward the tuition costs associated
with obtaining either a certificate, diploma, associate’s, or bachelor’s degree
in the culinary arts at any of The Art Institutes U.S. locations offering culinary
programs. Tuition scholarships are not redeemable for cash. The tuition scholarship
covers academic tuition and may not be applied against fees, housing, living expenses,
or program supplies and may not be transferred between affiliate schools.

First-place team of the National FCCLA Culinary Competition will be awarded
a $3,000 tuition scholarship to any one of over 40 U.S. schools comprising The International
Culinary Schools at The Art Institutes. A $2,000 tuition scholarship for second
place team entrants and a $1,000 tuition scholarship for third-place team entrants
will also be awarded.
First-place award of the National FCCLA Fashion Design and Fashion Construction
Competitions will be awarded a $3,000 tuition scholarship to any one of The Art
Institutes schools in the U.S. offering a Fashion program. A $2,000 tuition scholarship
for second-place and a $1,000 tuition scholarship for third-place will also be awarded
in each competition.
First-place team of the National FCCLA Hospitality Competition will be
awarded a $3,000 tuition scholarship to any one of over 40 U.S. schools comprising
The International Culinary Schools at The Art Institutes. A $2,000 tuition scholarship
for second-place team entrants and a $1,000 tuition scholarship for third-place
team entrants will also be awarded.
First-place winners (either team or individual) of the National FCCLA Interior
Design Competition will be awarded a $3,000 tuition scholarship to any one of The
Art Institutes schools in the U.S. offering an Interior Design program. A $2,000
tuition scholarship for second-place and a $1,000 tuition scholarship for third
place will also be awarded (either team or individual).

EVELYN KEEDY MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
The $30,000 Evelyn Keedy Memorial Scholarship is awarded each year to a worthy high
school senior who has enrolled at one of the eligible Art Institutes schools. Evelyn
Keedy, a highly respected High School Admissions Representative with The Art Institutes
for many years, served in several capacities at The Art Institute of Dallas, a campus
of South University, before beginning her work as an Art Institutes Representative
at high schools in Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, D.C. She is fondly remembered
for her enthusiasm, dedication, and commitment to serving the students of The Art
Institutes schools.

June 3, 2013.

THE ART INSTITUTES SCHOLARSHIP COMPETITION
High school seniors and international students may compete in The Art Institutes
Scholarship Competition. Each Art Institutes school will award a partial-tuition
scholarship to a student who demonstrates ability and commitment to succeed in a
creative career. Scholarship awards are based on the quality of projects submitted
by students and vary by school. Details may be obtained by calling The Art Institutes
school of your choice.
Entrants must apply to one of The Art Institutes schools and satisfy all acceptance
criteria in order to validate the scholarship. Students must begin their course
of study at The Art Institutes school of their choice in the summer or fall of 2013
and no later than winter quarter of 2014. If a student wants to transfer to a different
Art Institutes school, the receiving school may elect whether or not to accept the
scholarship.
Students must maintain satisfactory academic progress by completing an 18-month
program within 21 months, a 21-month program within 24 months, a 24-month program
within 27 months, a 27-month program within 30 months, or a 36-month program within
39 months. Students must maintain a GPA of 2.5 or better to retain the scholarship.
The scholarship is not redeemable for cash and may not be used to finance optional
programs sponsored by the applicable Art Institutes school. The scholarship covers
tuition only and may not be applied against fees, living expenses, housing, or supply
costs and may not be transferred. Scholarship money is awarded in the form of a
tuition credit, and will be prorated during the length of the student’s degree program.
In the event education is terminated either by the student or The Art Institutes
school, the scholarship becomes null and void; any future quarter scholarship dollars
not used will be revoked and will not be available upon reentry.
