Designers Statement
Since my interest in the visual arts was triggered shortly before entering high school, I have moved between media and subject matter in an attempt to find my forte, all the while and before using my artistic inclinations to design Web pages, banners, ads, signs, etc. for several online communities and the friends I found there.  I did not realize until I entered my junior year in high school that what I had been doing the entire time had a name and that name was “graphic design.” I have tried pottery, painting, drawing, photography and even a moderate amount of cooking with various levels of success in each field, but I constantly found myself returning to the digital medium which got me started and remains my place of highest knowledge and comfort to this day. The idea that an entire field of work could be followed on this passion fills me with nothing but joy and I wish to pursue my love for the graphic arts as far as it will take me.

Concerning my design and being that I have only been an artist for a short period of time, I have not had adequate time to develop my own “style” as it were.  As such, many of my ideas are inspired by, though never based on, copied from, or blatantly stolen from, the works of others. This design is inspired by a vector artist, whose creations have awed me, day in and day out, with strikingly detailed works of brilliant colors and composition. After viewing any of these pieces I find myself only left with the thought, “This is what the digital medium is all about. This is art.”  I wanted to capture this feeling, only altering this message slightly to fit the concept that “life is better with art in it” through a mannequinish figure transitioning from monochrome industry and societal norms to break free into the world of creativity and color.

It is my strong desire to expand on this idea and principle throughout my life and hopefully at The Art Institute of Tampa for the duration of my college-going days.
