My “Life is better with Art in it” poster design was inspired by a television commercial. The commercial was advertising paint for interior purposes and the paint bucket tipped over, spilling paint. Soon after the commercial I came up with different images for the poster competition.
I had the paint buckets tilt and spill out paint to fill up the letters “A” and “T” to show that without paint or color the word is empty and plain like the letter “R.” The word “Art” also has a drop shadow to help show that the letters were once plain like a picture in a coloring book until the paint flowed into the other letters.
In the word “Life” I used a drop shadow and other effects to show that the word has a lot of life in itself. The word has a glittering effect to it, as life does to me. Life, as it is now, is full of different types of art so the word could be used in any way, but this is how I would like to express the meaning of life by using art.
In the words “is better with” and “in it,” I decided to use a type font that would make the words look as if they were written quickly with a paint brush. I also made the words italic so it would add some style to them so they wouldn’t appear plan.
As my background I used spots of color to help bring out the other colors in the poster. I like slash art, so I decided to make the art as my background.
I had so much fun designing this poster and I will take any other opportunity to design another one or design something for another project. I hope to pursue not only knowledge in graphic design but also in media arts and animation. These areas of art are the most interesting to me and I enjoy every moment to get to design something in graphics.
