Designers Statement
As a child, my imagination took me to a world of fantasy. Art is a way to bring my fantasy world to life.

My design reflects a mural on a brick wall coming to life; bringing color to a world of gray. I emphasized the importance of diversity by combining three extremely different styles of art into the mural: Ukiyo-e, 50’s pin-up and pop art. The child running to the boat is a reflection of me, escaping town to sail off into a fresh new creative career. The girl in the design depicts a modern day “Mary Poppins.” Out from her magic art supply bag glides a paintbrush, bringing the mural on the wall to life.

I used a pen to draw the design on paper; I scanned my drawing into Adobe Illustrator and added color in Photoshop.

I plan to get an education that will allow me to pursue a career in Graphic Design. The phrase “Life is better with Art in it,” pretty much sums up my life-past, present, and future. Without art, my life would be like the brick wall: gray and dull. With art, my life is full of promise and adventure.
