Art Institute of Dallas Sweeps Video Race
The Art Institute of Dallas entered three teams into the second annual 48-Hour Film Project race in Dallas, and won a majority of the awards.
"Spin Cycle" won Best Film, Best Cinematography, Best Use of Props, and Best Graphics! As Best Film, "Spin Cycle" will be screened at Filmapalooza, the official 48HFP Awards Weekend, held in the past at SXSW in Austin and Cinequest in San Jose. A selection of the City-Winning films will receive distribution on DVD, and the film is eligible for the Fall Shootout and HD Showdown. The film was produced by BTF, made up of students Joaquin Chacon, Israel Isas, Nina Alcantar, Jonathan Reyes, and Jeremy Medranowon.
“Speechless" won Best Directing, Best Musical Score. Hon Mention Best Graphics, and one of the Audience Awards. The film was produced by Reel Ninjas, composed of faculty team leader Vince Williams and students Amanda Bourland, Brent Burden, Kelly Luu, Kevin Luu, Sonya Garza, Tony Dresser, Kristen Gonzales, Steven Johnson, Tyler Piersall, Abigail Cope, and Chris Myers.
"Living with M.A.D." won Best Choreography, Best Actor (Paul Taylor), and Hon Mention Musical Score. The film was produced by Barking Cicadas, consisting of faculty team leader Anne Perry and members Tim Perry, Ryan Fyffe, Tomi Hutton, Leslie Gaddis, Jason Clemente, Shawn Jones, Chris Phillips, Carlos (C.J.) Persons, Jim Adcock, and Libby Feller.
