What should your son or daughter bring for student housing?

Listed below are possible items that he or she might bring. 

SLEEPING NEEDS 
Alarm clock 
Sheet sets 
Pillows and pillow cases 
Mattress pad/Egg crate 
Comforter and/or blanket 
Throw pillows 


SCHOOL SUPPLIES 
Notebooks, writing paper 
Desk Supplies: pens, pencils, stapler, scissors, tape, ruler, paperclips, tacks, glue stick 
Plastic-Tac for hanging items in room 
Wastebasket 
Memo board or Dry-Erase board for door 
Desk lamp (No halogen lamps) 
Personal computer and printer/word processor/typewriter 
Computer disks and CDs (if applicable) 
Power strip with surge protector 
Printer paper 
Book bag 

PERSONAL HYGIENE 
Towels, washcloths, dish towels 
Bathrobe and slippers 
Laundry supplies: detergent, fabric softener/dryer sheets, laundry bag, quarters for washers and dryers, iron, mini-ironing board 
Toiletries: soap, shampoo, conditioner, shaving supplies, toothpaste, toothbrush, tissues, etc. 
Shower supplies: shower caddy/basket, shower shoes, hair dryer 
First aid kit 
Necessary prescriptions and/or medicine 
Contacts, contact solution, glasses (if applicable) 
Humidifier (optional) 

OTHER ITEMS 
Fan (optional) (ceiling fans and window air conditioners are not permitted) 
Throw rug (optional) 
Clothing for all seasons 
Clothes hangers 
Small sewing kit for mending clothes, sewing buttons 
Cleaning supplies: paper towels, sponge, all-purpose cleanser, room deodorizing spray 
Plates, mugs, cups, silverware (enough for personal use) 
Flashlight 
Umbrella 
Area rug and maybe a chair. 
Posters, photos and other things to help make your room feel like home 
TV, VCR and/or stereo for use in your room 
Refrigerator: small-size only, up to 3 cubic feet 
Camera

We recommend the student talk to his/her roommate(s) about bringing items like a TV, VCR, DVD, and stereo.

A student may decorate his or her room to fit their personal style, but remember that any decorations that violate college policy are NOT allowed if they can be seen from a public area, including windows and doorways.
