The Art Institute of Dallas is a private college for creative professional studies based upon focused and balanced curricula. History
1964
The Art Institute of Dallas was founded as the Dallas Fashion Merchandising College.
1978
The school changed location and became the Fashion and Art Institute of Dallas, expanding its programs in Fashion Merchandising and Interior Design.
1979
The school became approved to grant an Associate of Applied Arts Degree in each of its programs.
1984
The Institute became a member of The Design Schools, now known as The Art Institutes. Continuing with the same student body, faculty, and curriculum, the school then changed its name to The Art Institute of Dallas.
1988
The Art Institute of Dallas moved to its present facility located at 8080 Park Lane in North Dallas, Texas.
1990’s
The school expanded its curriculum into the fields of computer animation, video production, multimedia and culinary arts, indicating our continuing desire to meet the demands of a job market that constantly changes as new technology gives way to new and more complex programs and techniques.
1998
The Art Institute of Dallas was granted initial membership at Level I (associate's degrees) with the Commission on Colleges, Southern Association of Colleges and Schools effective January 1.
2000
The Commission awarded membership at Level II (bachelor's degrees).
2003
The school’s Associate in Arts degree program in Culinary Arts receives accreditation by the American Culinary Federation (ACF).
2003
The school’s Bachelor of Fine Arts degree program in Interior Design receives accreditation by the Foundation for Interior Design Education Research (FIDER) according to the professional standards of 2002.
2003
The school launched a new Bachelor of Fine Arts degree program in Graphic Design.
2004
The school launched a new Bachelor of Fine Arts degree programs in Digital Media Production, Interactive Digital Media and Advertising.
