[DALLAS, November 30, 2012] – The Art Institute of Dallas, a campus of South University, announces the 2013 Passion for Fashion Scholarship Competition, a competition for high school seniors to bring their fashion ideas to life for the opportunity to earn a tuition scholarship.
“Often times, high school seniors know they have a special love for fashion, but they aren’t sure how to begin or where to begin pursuing their careers in such a dynamic industry,” said Donna Sapp, academic director of fashion at The Art Institute of Dallas. “The Passion for Fashion Scholarship Competition is a creative, hands-on way to get you in the running for the opportunity to earn a tuition scholarship to The Art Institute of Dallas.”
High school seniors scheduled to graduate in 2013 are challenged to take the first step and enter the competition in one of two categories: 1) Fashion Design or 2) Fashion Marketing & Merchandising and Retail Management. Deadline for entries into the competition is midnight (PT), February 14, 2012.
In the Fashion Design category, high school seniors are required to submit three images of original sketches of an evening wear garment. In the Fashion Marketing & Merchandising and Retail Management category, seniors are required to submit images of a fashion trend board, predicting the next big trend in fashion. Local first place winners in each category will move on to the national competition.
Two national competition grand prize winners each will earn a half- tuition scholarship to their respective Art Institutes school, receive a VIP trip to New York City, participate in a “meet and greet” at Seventeen magazine’s New York City offices, have lunch with a Seventeen Style Pro, receive a $500 shopping spree at DKNY with the Style Pro, and a $500 gift card to shop anywhere in the Big Apple.
