Community Interactive Open House

 On Saturday, April 12, from 11 am to 3 pm, The Art Institute of Atlanta-Decatur welcomes the community to an interactive open house. Visitors will not only tour the new campus, meet staff and faculty, and see “Life Without Leaves,” the new exhibit of student photography in the Gallery, but can also participate in hands-on sessions in each of the six programs offered at the college.

Six interactive experience stations in advertising, fashion & retail management, graphic design, interior design, media arts & animation, and Web design & interactive media will be located in the college labs and studios. Each program will offer six 20-minute mini-sessions in their respective subjects, repeated six times between 11:30 am and 2:15 pm. For example, if you’re interested in advertising, spend a mind-expanding “ideation” session with department chair Larry Stultz, who will challenge you about the kinds of assumptions we all make with various products. Fashion & retail management chair Mary Jo Bershad will conduct mini-seminars on dressing for success. If you’re interested in media arts & animation we’ll guide you through making your own flip book! Get a quick introduction to FLASH if you’re interested in Web design & interactive media, or create your own poster with a member of the graphic design faculty. And if interior design is your interest, you’ll learn about designing with the environment in mind. It’s a whole day of new experiences, food, entertainment, learning, and fun!

Refreshments will be served and each interactive station features a special take-away gift.
