2009 Annual Juried Student Awards Exhibit Opens Oct. 30 at The Art Institute of Atlanta-Decatur Gallery

DECATUR (GA) – Since opening their doors at One West Court Square two years ago, The Art Institute of Atlanta-Decatur has grown from 25 to 400 students. The number of programs offered has also grown – from the original six (advertising, fashion & retail management, graphic design, interior design, media arts & animation, and Web design & interactive media, which include bachelor’s and associate degree and diploma programs) to seven, with the addition of game art & design. So now it’s time to show off the work of our students. The Art Institute of Atlanta – Decatur will present its first annual Student Awards Exhibition, opening on October 30, with a reception and presentation of awards on Monday evening, Nov. 9, from 6 – 8 pm. The reception is open to the public at no charge. The exhibit is on view through Jan. 18, 2010, and will be part of Decatur’s annual “Terrific Thursdays.”
The juried showcase will feature exceptional student work from the following concentration areas: media arts & animation, interior design, digital design, graphic design, advertising, fashion & retail management, game art & design, and Web design & interactive media. Gold, silver, and bronze awards will be given in each program area; the award includes a certificate of recognition and a Visa gift card for $100, $50, or $25 respectively. In each of the art foundations classes, special awards will be given to promising new students; the award includes a certificate and a $25 gift card.
The exhibit will be in The Art Institute of Atlanta-Decatur Gallery, One West Court Square, Suite 110, Decatur, GA 30030.
