"Taking Off: The Atlanta Printmakers Studio" Exhibit Opens August 15

DECATUR (GA) – “Taking Off: The Atlanta Printmakers Studio” opens as the next exhibit at The Art Institute of Atlanta-Decatur August 15. The exhibit kicks off with an opening reception, Friday evening, August 15, from 6 to 8 pm. “Taking Off,” a selection of works by local artists who are members of the Atlanta Printmakers Studio, interpret the individual artists’ take on what is their first exhibit, and the variety of approaches taken makes this a rich collection thematically and technically. These prints are selections from their first Members Portfolio Exchange with more than 30 participants employing a wide range of printmaking techniques including intaglio, serigraph, linocut, woodcut, aquatint, and collagraph. The exhibit will continue in The Art Institute of Atlanta - Decatur Gallery through September 25.

The Atlanta Printmakers Studio (APS) was founded in 2005 and has quickly grown from a small group of dreamers into a vital and growing organization of over 100 members. The mission of the studio is to establish an environment for artists to explore fine art printmaking. APS exists to provide studio space and equipment for artist renters and offers community outreach through workshops and exhibitions in order to enhance the understanding, appreciation and value of printmaking. Artists and the general public are welcome to join in creating, learning about, and collecting fine art prints.

The exhibit will be in The Art Institute of Atlanta-Decatur Gallery, One West Court Square, Suite 110, Decatur, GA 30030. Gallery hours are Monday-Thursday, 9 am – 7 pm; Friday from 9 am to 5 pm, and Saturday from 9 am to 3 pm.
