Here's (almost) everything you ever wanted to know about entry requirements, tuition, what our catalog has to say, and even more.
International Admissions
The Art Institute of Colorado programs are technical in nature; therefore, any applicant who is from a non-English-speaking country must be able to demonstrate proficiency in the English language and satisfy all admissions requirements and procedures.
International students whose first language is not English must demonstrate competence in the English language by one of the following standards:
• Graduation from a secondary or postsecondary institution whose primary language of instruction was English; or
• A minimum score of 500 on the written TOEFL (or 173 on the computer-based TOEFL); or
• Proof of completion of ELS Language Schools Level 109 or an equivalent level of English proficiency from an approved, alternative English as a Second Language (ESL) Program; or
• Proof of successful completion of a minimum of two quarters of postsecondary coursework at an accredited institution in which English is the language of instruction.
International applicants must also secure an educational transcript record that accurately reflects courses and related grades/evaluations for all educational programs completed, which must be at least the equivalent of the standard 12-year primary and secondary school program provided in the U.S.
For those students who meet all admissions requirements but do not demonstrate English language proficiency, The Art Institute of Colorado offers a full range of English language services through its joint partnership with the ELS Language Schools. It is therefore not required that applicants to The Art Institute of Colorado demonstrate proficiency in the English language prior to being admitted and enrolled. Those F-1 nonimmigrant students who meet all admission requirements but do not demonstrate English proficiency will be issued a Letter of Acceptance and an I-20 Form and will be given an English Language Placement Examination, administered by ELS Language Schools, upon matriculation at The Art Institute of Colorado. Based upon this placement exam, The Art Institute of Colorado will determine, if necessary, the appropriate enrollment in Art Institute recognized courses provided by ELS Language Schools. The Art Institute of Colorado will maintain full authority for dealing with all academic, financial, immigration and other administrative needs of any student enrolled in these courses.
