The Art Institute of Colorado Introduces Art Fun(d)
Celebrating the Intersection of Art Education and Community
[DENVER, CO, June 12, 2009] – The Art Institute of Colorado introduces its first annual Art Fun(d) event, an art sale and celebration benefiting The Art Institute of Colorado Student Scholarship Fund.
With First Lady, Jeannie Ritter as Honorary Chair, Art Fun(d) will feature individually created works from local artists, celebrities, media personalities, community leaders, and Art Institute faculty and students. All pieces of art will be created on an 8” X 8” canvas, but may encompass a wide range of mediums and styles. Each piece will then be exhibited anonymously and sold on a first-come, first-served basis for $50. Only after selecting and purchasing the piece will the buyer learn the identity of the artist, who has signed the work on the back of the canvas. The anonymity of the exhibit encourages viewers to select pieces based on their visual interest and the $50 price allows for accessibility and affordability of art by a wide audience.
With the goal of raising over $10,000, all proceeds raised at Art Fun(d) will go directly to The Art Institute of Colorado’s Student Scholarship Fund. As students struggle to finance their education in harsh economic times, scholarships have become increasingly important.
The first annual Art Fun(d) will be held on Sunday, August 23, from 4:00 to 6:00 pm at the John Jellico Gallery at The Art Institute of Colorado. Hors d’oeuvres created by Art Institute of Colorado culinary students and libations will be served.
