NEW GENERATION OF DESIGNERS' WORKS AT DESIGN WITHIN REACH CHERRY CREEK
Design Within Reach is sponsoring a design competition and exhibit featuring 19 examples of the best furniture and lighting designs from a new generation of design students from The Art Institute of Colorado Industrial Design program. The event is this Thursday, September 11 from 6:00 to 9:00 pm at the DWR Denver Studio in Cherry Creek North.
The DWR show provides Art Institute students with a unique opportunity to showcase their designs to the public in a professional environment. Their designs reflect the technical skills in drawing, form giving, model making, problem solving, and computer-aided design they learned in the classroom, but also emphasize creativity and innovation. These designs will be reviewed by a panel of distinguished judges from the design, architecture and university fields and winning entries will be announced. Judges include:
- Momoko Morton, NAKA Designs, LLC
- Laura Medicus, "O" Interior Design
- David Schaich, Shike Design
- Reginald Norman, Assistant Deputy Manager of Aviation (formerly Manager of Design), Denver International Airport
- Dave Boykin, Furniture Designer and Principal, Boykin Pearce Associates
- Jeff Samson, Samson Design & Development
- Heather Waldschmidt, Studio Account Executive
- Marc Burg, Studio Proprietor
The winning furniture and lighting pieces will be on display at the store. A reception featuring hors d'oeurves from The Art Institute of Colorado International Culinary School and libations will be served during the event. Representatives of the school's faculty will discuss the Industrial Design program. Don't miss this opportunity to witness the future of design today.
