[DENVER, CO, September 15, 2009] – Art Institute of Colorado Interior Design students created a sustainable and ready-to-wear design that secured second place at this year’s Prêt a Porter design competition.
The student design team was tasked with the mission of creating a wearable and model-appropriate piece that represented bio-aesthetic transformation. A thorough design process, the assignment involved concept development, innovation of materials, material selection and garment creation.
The group craftily pieced together textiles and other interior finishes provided by manufacturer Herman Miller to create a clean garment, and used memo samples for boots.
Natalie Goodman, Art Institute of Colorado Interior Design student and owner of Natalie Goodman Designs said of her team’s work, “I think that our design concept was clear and there was a relationship between material and concept. We are thrilled to have won second place out of four. All the outfits were phenomenal.”
The design team included team leader Natalie Goodman, Pasha Uney, Jordan Lemaster, Tenaya McCullough and model and designer, Emma Carrio.
Goodman said that despite customary design challenges, all in all, the team worked together well to demonstrate the concept. She said Carrio’s modeling performance was a major contribution to the overall project.
