Art Institute of Colorado Culinary Students Participate in Pressure Cooker Film

[DENVER, CO, July 29, 2009] – Art Institute of Colorado Culinary student Anthony Brummel and former Culinary student Omar Rosado participated in the 2008 reality-based film, Pressure Cooker. Both Brummel and Rosado were recipients of the Careers through Culinary Arts Programs (C-CAP) Scholarship.

Filmed in Northeast Philadelphia, Pressure Cooker follows the heart-wrenching journey of Frankford High School teacher Wilma Stephenson and her culinary students, from the classroom to chef whites. Stephenson coaches her team on both life and a love for cooking as they prepare to compete in the C-CAP Scholarship Competition.

C-CAP is a curriculum enrichment program that links public high school culinary teachers and their students to the foodservice field through culinary education and employment. C-CAP Scholarships assist underserved students to attend college and build a career in the culinary industry. Through C-CAP, Rosado received $46,000 in scholarships and  Brummel received $32,000 in scholarships. Both Rosado and Brummel used these funds to begin their culinary education at The Art Institute of Colorado.

The Denver Film Society will host an exclusive engagement and film screening of Pressure Cooker July 31-August 6 at the Starz Film Center. The Opening Night Premiere will take place Friday, July 31 at 7:15 p.m. and will feature a panel discussion with some of Denver’s most prominent voices on behalf of at-risk youth.
