Student Leadership
The office of Student Affairs provides leadership development training, resources and information to help student develop leadership skills. Student leaders may participate in a variety of programs. The Student Leadership group comprises the Student Action League (SAL), Peer Mentors and Peer Educators, Resident Assistants (RA), Student Ambassadors (SA) and student officers of student clubs and organizations.
Student Affairs is committed to fostering the development of student leadership by sponsoring the Student Leadership Academy, seminars and skill building workshops. The quarterly Student Leadership Academy is a Saturday retreat for current and aspiring student leaders. Topics have included teambuilding, working with difficult people, overcoming obstacles, identifying and using personal leadership style and publicity/programming for student clubs and associations. Student leaders who successfully complete four Student Leadership Academy sessions receive a special recognition as Outstanding Student Leader.
