High School Seniors Compete for Title of Best Teen Chef – Local Cook-off Competition – March 7, 2009
The Art Institute of Michigan recently conducted our regional Best Teen Chef cook off. High School seniors from around the state of Michigan traveled to our campus to compete for an Art Institutes scholarships and the title of Art Institute of Michigan – Best Teen Chef.
Alyssa Marino finished in first place and was crowned Best Teen Chef. She was awarded a scholarship for $3,000 and a trip to Charlotte, North Carolina to compete against the top finishers from Art Institutes schools across the country.
The top prize winner in the National Competition can earn a full-tuition scholarship toward a bachelor’s degree, an associate's degree, certificate program or diploma program to study Culinary Arts at one of the more than 30 participating Art Institutes locations. In addition to a full-tuition scholarship and the title of Best Teen Chef 2009, the national first place winner, in partnership with Food Network, will be an "Intern for a Day" at Food Network Kitchens in New York City. The winner will also receive a tour of Food Network's studios, dinner for two at a Food Network chef's restaurant and a library of Food Network Kitchens cookbooks.
Paige Buie finished in second place at the Michigan cook off and was awarded a scholarship for $500.
Monisha Richardson finished in third place and was also awarded a $500 scholarship.
