Organizations & Activities
The Art Institute of Michigan encourages students to adopt a service-oriented philosophy and to be involved within the school. Student Life Services includes wellness programs, events, community service activities, and student organizations. Currently we offer four clubs for students to join and play a role in activities outside the classroom.
Student Clubs:
Garden Club - Establishes and maintains our campus garden located on the back of our property. Not only do student reap the benefits of this joint effort through utilizing the vegetables in class, they are also rewarded for their efforts by having vegetables for their own personal use.
Art Appreciation Club - Meets twice a month and enjoys artistic events throughout the year. Recent events have included a day at the Detroit Institute of Arts, an evening at the Farmington Players, and a production of Sweeny Todd at the Fox Theater. The Art Appreciation clubs looks for art in all forms to view and appreciate.
Wine Club - Meets monthly and is honored to have an experienced Sommelier to host and guide the class through the wine experience. While participation in this club is limited to individuals over the age of 21 and costs participants $15 per session, friends and family are welcome to the event and appetizers are provided as participants sample wines from various regions.
Fashion Club - Will be launched in the spring of 2009 and will include an exciting fashion show, offsite visits to trunk shows, guest speakers from the industry, and involvement with Fashion Group International. We are excited to have this additional club to enhance not only the interests of Fashion students, but all students who are interested in improving their style.
