Beach Pavilion designed by Eddie Forbes

Beach Pavilion Designed by Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale Graduate

The seaside community of Lauderdale-By-The-Sea, located between the Intracoastal Waterway and Atlantic Ocean just north of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, awarded Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale Industrial Design student, and now alumnus Eddie Forbes, the project of a lifetime, to design a pavilion for shade, relaxation, and shelter. Within just one year, the pavilion was built and constructed without harming the annual turtle-nesting season!

In 2008, the city managers and commissioners chose Forbes' concept and design as the first place winner out of 15 other students' sketches and models in the Environmental Design class. This landmark design project for Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale Industrial Design students is just the beginning. They are involved in design concepts for the El Mar Drive median strip project.

Kudos to Industrial Design instructor Win Menish who nurtured this relationship with Lauderdale-By-The-Sea and has provided guidance and instruction to help make these projects a reality for his students.
