Fashion DesignFashion Design Degree

Enter the Fashion Design or Fashion Merchandising departments and you are immediately transcended into a world reflecting the exciting, non-stop, energetic, and fast-paced world of an industry you've always wanted to be in - the whirl of sewing machines, the snip of the scissors, and the rustle of the fabrics. That's the traditional side of the hall. On the other side are students at computers developing patterns, rendering worksheets, and creating digital portfolios. All this and more under the instruction from expert industry professionals.

The Fashion Design bachelor's degree or associate's degree programs offer the passionate, focused and competitive student the ability to develop the skills needed for a successful career. Take your ideas from concepts to finished garments. Enhance your skills in design, sketching and illustration, patternmaking, garment construction, critical analysis, sewing, draping, textiles, and digital designing. You'll even have a chance to show off your creations in the college's annual fashion show extravaganza.

Take your designing skills to another dimension as you gain experience with the same Gerber technology systems that top fashion houses use to digitize, draft patterns, and grade garments. There are optional fashion trips to places like France, Italy, New York, and the Orient to visit major factories, showrooms, and museums.

When you finish the program, you'll understand the potential earning power that goes along with a successful career in fashion and will be prepared to seek entry-level positions such as CAD operator, assistant designer, product development assistant, sourcing specialist, assistant product manager, or CAD specialist.
