BEST TEEN CHEF COMPETITION
Enter The Art Institutes Best Teen Chefs Competition to win a full- or partial-tuition scholarship to The Art Institutes. And if being a celebrity chef is something you dream of, you may be in luck. Past winners have appeared on NBC’s “The Today Show,” CNN, “Fox & Friends,” “Ellen,” and in newspapers nationwide.
High school seniors may compete in The Art Institutes Best Teen Chef Competition. Winners are awarded full- or partial-tuition scholarships to The Art Institutes schools that offer a Culinary Arts program. Students must apply to The Art Institute location of their choice.
SCHOLARSHIPS AWARDED
First, Second, and Third place
Full-tuition approx. $30,000
Fourth, Fifth, And Sixth place
Half-tuition approx. $15,000
Seventh, Eighth, and Ninth place
Quarter-tuition approx. $ 7,500
Each remaining national candidate
not in the top nine will be awarded
Partial-tuition $ 2,000
All tuition scholarships are awarded toward a culinary associate’s degree, diploma, or certificate program. The tuition scholarship award received may also be used as a partial credit toward a culinary bachelor’s degree program, should one be offered at the winner’s represented school and the applicant meets admissions requirements into the program. Should a winner choose to exercise this option, the credit toward a bachelor’s degree program will equal the tuition scholarship amount awarded toward the culinary associate’s or certificate program at the school.
All tuition scholarships must be used at The Art Institute location you’ve chosen to represent. Scholarships are non-transferable, and upon accepting the scholarship, you must begin your culinary arts studies in the summer or fall immediately following the national cook-off.

Competition Eligibility
You must be a graduating high school senior with a minimum 2.0 cumulative grade point average.You must fulfill all individual culinary program admission requirements of The Art Institute you wish to attend.

Approximately 10 semi-finalists from each participating Art Institute location will compete. Each first place winner will be flown with a parent or guardian to compete at the Art Institute of Dallas.
Entry Requirements
Based on the entry form and materials outlined below, a select number of winners will be chosen and will advance to the local cook-off competition. To enter, you must submit the following:
• Complete the attached entry form.
• Submit a copy of your high school transcript.
• Submit an essay (minimum of 250 words) that addresses why you’d like to be a culinary
professional, who inspires you, and the reason
you’d like to attend The Art Institute where you’re entering the competition.
• A notebook that includes a menu with descriptions for a two-course meal including appetizer, soup or salad,
and a main course with sauce, garnish, vegetable,
and starch. Please include detailed recipes and
directions for each course. Also include an image of
each course and an image that includes all courses.
The Local Cook-off Competition
Approximately 10 semi-finalists from each participating Art Institute location will be chosen to compete in local cook-offs. Contestants will prepare a menu issued in advance by The Art Institutes and have their work judged by a panel of professional chefs and culinary faculty. All decisions by the judges are final and non-disputable.
