The Art Institute of Houston Shines a Light on Community’s High School Teachers with Gallery Show

Return to Our Main News Page

(HOUSTON  - February, 2012) — The Art Institute of Houston joins The Art Institutes schools across the nation in paying tribute to talented high school arts and media educators in an April gallery show: What Those Who Teach Can Do.

“We’re celebrating what these educators do in our community by hosting their work in our gallery” said Larry Horn, president of The Art Institute of Houston. “Teachers work endlessly to cultivate skills and talents in our area’s high school students, and now we want to shine a light on the talent they use everyday to inspire.”

More than 45 Art Institutes locations in the United States will host What Those Who Teach Can Do. This will mark The Art Institutes’ first nationwide gallery highlighting the artistic work of local high school educators. “The truth is that teachers do so much, more than we can ever see,” said Horn.

The Art Institute of Houston invites the public and family, friends and students of the artists to attend the reception on April 19, 2012 from 5:30 – 7 p.m. at no charge. For more information contact Jackie Bachmeier, 713.353.4150, or by email at jbachmeier@aii.edu. If you’re a high school arts and/or media teacher, and are interested in submitting your artwork, please contact Jackie Bachmeier at 713.353.4150 or visit http://aieducators.com/.
