The Career Portfolio Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP)
The Quality Enhancement Plan is a Core Requirement of the new criteria for the
Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Reaffirmation Process. The QEP
must be a carefully designed, focused course of action to improve the quality
of student learning; the QEP must become part of the institution?s comprehensive,
ongoing planning and evaluation process.
The Art Institute of Houston selected the creation of a Career Portfolio as
its Quality Enhancement Plan. The Career Portfolio has the active support of
campus leadership and has widespread commitment from both faculty and staff,
it responds to concerns expressed by employers of our graduates, and it will
also provide balance with the existing technical portfolio and capstone projects
our students currently create.
The Career Portfolio at The Art Institute of Houston will focus on the following
skills: Communication, Problem Solving, Teamwork, Time Management, and Leadership,
Diversity Appreciation and Social Responsibility.
The SACS Reaffirmation Committee visited the Art Institute of Houston October
24?26, 2004. The report made by the Reaffirmation Committee found the Career
Portfolio plan to be acceptable along all of the dimensions required by SACS.
