Return to Our Main News Page

[SAN BERNARDINO, CA, May 17, 2011] — The Art Institute of California – Inland Empire will host its third annual Fashion Empire 2011- Casino Royale  scholarship fundraiser and student design competition fashion show on Saturday, June 11, 2011 at the Million Air Hangar located at 295 North Leland Norton Way, San Bernardino, CA 92408. The event promotes the school’s Fashion Design and Fashion & Retail Management programs. All proceeds from the ticket and poker tournament sales will go towards scholarships for these programs.

The venue is a hangar for private jet planes, and was chosen to house the event because it encompasses the production’s “007, Casino Royale” theme.  Additionally, the space will be staged for a stylish Casino Royale-inspired student fashion show competition. The Art Institute of California – Inland Empire Fashion Design students will be competing to earn a Grand Prize Scholarship of $2,500. The Second Place winner will earn a $1,000 Scholarship.

Adding to the evening’s glam factor is a special showcase featuring the couture designs of Project Runway designer Michael Costello. A special pre-fashion show performance will be made by America’s Best Dance Crew season four winners We Are Heroes; followed by headlining songstress, Macy Gray.

The evening’s itinerary is as follows:

  • 5:30 PM – Press & VIP check-in and Red Carpet entry
  • 6:00 PM – General Admission
  • 6:30 – Seating
  • 7:00 – Announcements

  • 8:00 PM: Student Fashion Design Competition winner announcement
  • 8:10 PM – 10:00 PM: Reception, hors d’oeuvres & refreshments, casino & charity poker tournament, photo shoot sessions and gifting suites

General Admission tickets are $5.00, VIP tickets are $10.00 and Diamond VIP tickets are $20.00. There is no cost to senior high school students. All ticket proceeds will go to benefit The Education Foundation scholarship fund (http://www.educationfdn.org/).

“Each and every year, our fashion students out do themselves by creating garments that encompass the design challenge theme. They gain a real world experience through this competition and are able to showcase their designs in a professionally produced fashion show sponsored by the school and compete for a  scholarship prize. On June 11, ten very talented fashion designers will be unveiling their one-of-a-kind Casino Royale fashion design to a select panel of judges as well as their peers, family, faculty and the community,” says Emam El-Hout, President of The Art Institute of California – Inland Empire. “I wish them all the best of luck.”
