The Art Institute of Jacksonville to Offer Three New Programs
2/8/2007
(JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — February 8, 2007) — The Art Institute of Jacksonville, which began its first semester of classes last month, will expand its curricula this summer with three additional degree programs, one each in culinary arts, culinary management, and digital filmmaking & video production. The Art Institute of Jacksonville is a member of The Art Institutes system of 34 schools located throughout North America.
“We are beginning construction on facilities to provide critical hands-on training for the new programs beginning in our July quarter,†says Erika Orris, president of The Art Institute of Jacksonville. “We will be building culinary skills kitchens and digital studios where students can begin experiencing what it will be like in the field.
The Culinary Arts associate’s degree program consists of courses covering basic skills and techniques, including purchasing and cost control, kitchen management, international cuisine and an internship with a quality food operation.
Students in the Culinary Management bachelor’s degree program will learn skills targeted to the foodservice industry in marketing, accounting and global management and operations. They will also explore the factors affecting the industry in a global marketplace and develop a proficiency in technology through training with industry-specific software and hardware.
The Digital Filmmaking & Video Production bachelor’s degree program provides students with the skills needed to formulate, construct and deliver digital audio, video and motion graphics. Students will study with advances in high-definition video, storage area networks and software toolsets while working with industry-related software and equipment.
The Art Institute of Jacksonville began classes on January 8, 2007 and currently offers bachelor’s degree programs in graphic design, interactive media design and interior design, and associate’s degree programs in graphic design and interactive media design. The school occupies approximately 47,000 square feet at 8775 Baypine Road in the Baymeadows/I-95 area, providing ample room for students to develop their creative and technical skills during their time at the Institute.
The Art Institutes have three additional schools in Florida: The Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale, The Art Institute of Tampa, and Miami International University of Art & Design.
