(JACKSONVILLE, FL – June 4, 2012) – Students from The Art Institute of Jacksonville, a branch of Miami International University of Art & Design, participated in a competition that helped raise more than$100,000 during this year’s VisionWalk for the Jacksonville Chapter of the Foundation Fighting Blindness that took place in late April.
Eleven students from the advanced image manipulation class participated in the contest, which asked students to design a logo for the local chapter’s VisionWalk as well as a t-shirt for one of the event’s fundraising teams, Cure Crusaders.
The winning logo for the event, called Robby Retina Crusader, was a collaborative effort between two students, Samantha Wilbur, a student in the Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design program, and Dwayne Breaker, a Bachelor of Fine Arts student in Web Design & Interactive Media. Additionally, Associate of Arts in Web Design & Interactive Media student Jonathan Riley was the winner of the t-shirt logo contest for the Cure Crusaders team.
“We are extremely proud of our students, not only for their talent and skills, but for their enthusiasm in helping a worthy community organization raise more than $100,000, surpassing their goal by 56 percent,” said Brian Mazur, president of The Art Institute of Jacksonville
