What: Folio Weekly founder Sam Taylor presents the keynote address during The Art Institute of Jacksonville’s Spring Commencement.

Who: Sam Taylor moved to Jacksonville in 1986 after a nine year career in advertising sales to launch a free, alternative, weekly tabloid. Admitting that he made every mistake a media start-up can make, he quickly learned the importance of creativity and building relationships in making a news magazine successful and profitable. At his retirement party in 2009, co-workers recognized his success at generating $100 million dollars throughout the 23 years, but were mostly they recognized him for his values which involved people, peace and our planet. Sam Taylor earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, VA and is now enjoying restoring Japanese motorcycles from the ‘60s and ‘70s.
