The Art Institutes International – Kansas City offering high school kids a chance to give college a try.
Lenexa, Kan. – When most people think of summer camp, they picture pools and creeks, arts and crafts and outdoor sports. But for some kids, it’s serious business. More than 30 high school students are going to give college a try at The Art Institutes International – Kansas City Summer Studio, a week-long camp that gives kids a sneak peek at the college experience.
For one week, high school sophomores, juniors and seniors take concentrated classes in a course of study within the areas of design, media arts, fashion and culinary. The courses are taught by instructors from The Art Institutes International – Kansas City. At the end of the week students present their portfolios. Students can enroll in any of the areas of study offered by the college. The intensive program gives the students an opportunity to give college a test-run and allows them to hone their artistic skills.
“Summer Studio provides these students an opportunity to see what kind of curriculum they can expect in college and really helps relieve some anxiety about entering this new stage in their lives,” says The Art Institutes International – Kansas City President Cyndie Shadow.
Summer Studio at The Art Institutes International - Kansas City runs June 26-30. For more information, visit www.summerstudio.com/kansascity or contact Natalia Derevyanny at 312-777-8640 or email@example.com.
