Art Institute of Las Vegas Hosts 20th Century Technology Exhibit

A History of Technology in the Modern Age

HENDERSON, APR 10, 2008 – The Art Institute of Las Vegas is pleased to announce a unique exhibit featuring 20th Century Technology. On display though May 18, the show features the historical designs, ideas and equipment that have led the technology age.

From the advertisements that reveal electronic advancements, changing graphics and marketing techniques over the years to the computers that show the first twenty years of personal computing, the show presents more than 200 individual pieces.

Among items included in the exhibit are:

-A Television Camera from 1939
-Moviola film editor from the early 50s
-Twentieth Anniversary Macintosh 1997
-Muntz Autostereo 1963 (the 4-track start of personal sound)
-The first model iPod
-RCA 77-DX from 1943
-Admiral Television from the late 50s
-Heathkit analog computer early 60s
-Sony CV-2010 (first video tape machine sold to the public)
-Webcor 181 wire recorder 1953 (before tape there was wire)
-Microphones from 1920 to current day
-Gates radio station board from the 60s
-HP-35 The first calculator
-Pickett Slide Rule

The Art Institute of Las Vegas gallery is located at 2350 Corporate Circle in Henderson. It is free and open to the public Monday – Friday, from 8 am – 8 pm, and Saturdays, from 9 am – 4 pm. For more information about future exhibits, call 702.369.9944.
