Audio Production Instructor - Part Time

Job Title:          Part-Time Faculty                                                         

Department:      Education - Audio Production 

The Art Institute of California, Los Angeles is currently seeking qualified part-time instructors to teach Audio Electronics II & Audio Electronics III for the Bachelor of Science Degree program in Audio Production.

Program Description:

The Bachelor of Science degree program in Audio Production prepares students for entry-level positions in the television, film, radio, music, web design, live sound and gaming industries.

Areas of study include: Soldering, Microphone Design & Construction, and Electricity.

Students focus on the theoretical principles, physical properties, build, and characteristics of various microphones. They will learn to take apart and assemble the components of a microphone and perform basic troubleshooting and repairing of microphones.

Upon successful completion of this course, the student should be able to:

  • Apply the principles of Ohm's Law to audio signals and solve problems using current, voltage, resistance, and power for AC and DC circuits.
  • Describe the electrical and magnetic design characteristics and specifications of condenser, dynamic, and ribbon microphones.
  • Recognize the parameters that govern the operational limits of audio equipment.
  • Articulate the causes and types of audio signal distortion and the methods for distortion measurement.
  • Demonstrate ability to interpret and utilize data from schematic circuit diagrams.

Instructor Qualifications:           

Significant Teaching experience

Significant Industry experience

Instructor Requirements:

            Master's Degree in related field

Responsibilities include:

Classroom management, attendance, grade entry, weekly lesson plans, lecture-based and hands-on instruction. Attending Faculty meetings and participating in the objectives of the entire Audio Department.

Dates/Time of Employment:

            Summer Quarter 7/13/09 - 9/26/09

            Audio Electronics II Friday 12:30pm - 4pm.

            Audio Electronics III Thursday 12:30pm - 4:30pm.

Applicant must also attend mandatory one day New Faculty Orientation on Thursday, July 9th from 8:30am - 5pm.
