For our third project, the Game Wizards Video Game Production Team, at the Art Institute of California-Los Angeles, chose to work with outside production company Union Entertainment on an existing property called Priest. Priest is a Korean manga published by comic giant Tokyo Pop. ìUnion had the rights for the feature and the game, and we thought it would be great to put a demo together that could be used to pitch the game to a publisherî, said Eric T. Elder, Game Wizards Executive Producer. Union had already put together a game document and we studied the comics to get the feel for what the game could be.
Priest was our most challenging MOD to date, and had the longest production cycle. While we were in pre production a bunch of us went up the coast and toured a few of the famous ghost towns where we took tons of picture reference and texture shots. We used the Saint Baldlas sequence from issue number two, and constructed a old west town and made Jarbilong the boss character. We even incorporated mocap animation, done here at our own motion capture studio within our newly constructed Game Center, for the cinematics.
