Academic Advising

At The Art Institute of California — Los Angeles, student success is paramount. To ensure that success, academic advisors at The Art Institute of California — Los Angeles provide individual and small group advising, addressing student questions and issues, and advancing a positive campus experience.

Academic Advisors work closely with both Academic Affairs and Student Affairs to support students throughout their academic careers. Each Academic Advisor works with students individually, within specific programs of study, to maximize their experience here at The Art Institute of California – Los Angeles and complete their education successfully. Working closely with the Department Chairs and faculty, advisors provide academic support and guidance to students. Working closely with Student Development, Housing, school counselors, and disability services, advisors advocate for students and help foster a healthy campus community.

Academic Advisors are a student’s primary contact once they have started school, playing a significant and proactive role in each student’s experience. One responsibility of the Academic Advisor is to communicate important information to students about academic policies. Advisors meet one-on-one with students about academic progress – including general academic issues, registration, schedule adjustments, grade changes, attendance, and graduation. Another important responsibility of the advisors is the organization of both campus-wide and program-specific events throughout each quarter. These events (typically featuring food and raffle prizes) provide important opportunities for students to connect with their peers, receive important information about registration, and learn about campus resources.

The Academic Advisors are a dynamic group of individuals who are committed to the success of students here at The Art Institute of California — Los Angeles. Please don’t hesitate to stop by and see us on the 3rd Floor of the 2950 Building.
