The Art Institutes Launch New Walters-Storyk Designed Audio Studios at Eight Schools

   |Print

The Art Institute of California - San Francisco and The Illinois Institute of Art – Schaumburg are the most recent Art Institutes Schools to launch new Walters-Storyk designed Audio Studios

The audio production industry is constantly evolving with new technologies being created everyday and more job opportunities becoming available, many that reach far beyond traditional music recording.  The Art Institutes schools have responded to this demand with the launch of new Walters-Storyk designed audio studios at some of its schools. New studios have been implemented at The Art Institute of Austin, The Art Institute of California – San Diego, The Art Institute of Houston, The Art Institute of Las Vegas, The Art Institute of Tennessee – Nashville, The Art Institute of Washington,  and most recently, The Art Institute of California - San Francisco and The Illinois Institute of Art – Schaumburg. These new studios offer a hands-on learning environment for students pursuing a degree in the Audio Production program.

Students in the program study audio recording, live sound reproduction, audio for video and sound design. Students have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the studio as they record, mix, and produce audio in both analog and digital formats, while gaining an understanding of what it takes to compete in the audio industry. In addition, students will learn how to create high quality audio content for a wide range of purposes, including video game production and mobile devices, and in various sectors such as corporate, government, and education.

"There continues to be growing interest among prospective students in pursuing a creative arts career in Audio Production.  There are new and interesting opportunities in the industry today as recording studio engineers, music producers, sound stage technicians, and audio technicians, to name a few,” says John Mazzoni, President, The Art Institutes. "The quality and caliber of the Walters-Storyk audio studios, coupled with the expertise of The Art Institutes faculty to our ‘professionals-in-training,’ make for a powerful combination of tools that ensure students are receiving the skills and experience they need to succeed in the workplace."

“It’s an honor to be able to work with The Art Institutes to create these studios,” said John Storyk, co-founder, Walters-Storyk Design Group “We know that our work is valued and will make a difference in the lives of the students. We commend The Art Institutes for offering Audio Production programs that puts emphasis into the quality of the facilities, the quality of the materials and ultimately the quality of the education that students are receiving.”

Students enrolled in The Art Institute of California - San Francisco and The Illinois Institute of Art – Schaumburg’s Audio Production program are excited about their new studios which will give them access to industry-current equipment and facilities right at their fingertips.

Walters-Storyk Design Group (WSDG) was founded by John Storyk, a leading recording studio architect and acoustician. Mr. Storyk's career began in 1969 with the design of Jimi Hendrix's Electric Lady studio in New York. WSDG designs include personal studios for Alicia Keys, Green Day, Jay-Z, and Stevie Wonder - as well as institutions such as the Smithsonian, Viacom, and Electronic Arts.
