New Students
A major focus of the Miami International University of Art & Design is assisting graduates to gain employment. This is achieved through two ways. First, Career Services teaches the student/graduate the skills needed to conduct a successful job search. This is accomplished through both classroom and one-on-one training. All aspects of the job search are covered including résumés, cover letters, references, generating interviews, how to interview, closing the interview, follow-up, and salary negotiation. In addition, the Career Services staff markets the school and its graduates to potential employers trying to locate open entry-level positions that we can share with our graduates. Student Employment
Our Student Employment Advisors are dedicated to helping you find employment while in school — with leads for part-time and full-time jobs, both general and field-related. Explore work-study and internship opportunities, or get some input on your résumé. While Career Services cannot guarantee employment, every effort is made to provide our students with pertinent resources. The combination of our professional assistance, and the talent and enthusiasm of our students generally add up to positive employment results. Jobs are posted on a bulletin board in the Student Union, and information can be found in the MIVUE Newsletter. And be sure to take advantage of our Job Fair, held each quarter. There, you can meet face-to-face with employers, and get feedback from industry professionals. Once you reach upper-quarter class work, you'll partner with a Career Services Advisor specific to your field. Together, you and your advisor map out a plan that presents you to potential employers as a professional in your chosen specialty.
