MIAMI INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY ANNOUNCES ASSOCIATE DEAN OF ACADEMIC AFFAIRS

Miami, April 7, 2008 – Miami International University of Art & Design announced the promotion of Mary Mapes to Associate Dean of Academic Affairs effective immediately.
Mary joined Miami International University of Art & Design four years ago, after a successful career as a Graphic Designer. Prior to joining the University, she held positions as Publications Director for the University of Miami’s North-South Center Press, Advertising Art Department Manager for The Miami Herald, Art Director for John Held Advertising and Associate Art Editor for McGraw-Hill.

As Graphic Design Department Chair at Miami International University of Art & Design, Mary led her team to many successes including growing the Graphic Design department to one of the largest programs in the University and starting the Advertising program which now has over 100 students. Mary has served on two system-wide curriculum task forces contributing to the development of both of the programs she oversees. Her steady manner, intelligence, compassion and sense of humor have made her a mentor to students and colleagues alike. “We are very excited about this change and we are confident that Mary, as Associate Dean of Academic Affairs, will continue to do the remarkable job she’s always done - her experience and know how will be invaluable as the University continues to grow,” says Erika Fleming, President of Miami International University of Art & Design.
