About New York City
New York City art and design school

The Art Institute of New York City is located in the heart of SoHo/Tribeca, a district recognized as New York City's center of contemporary art and creativity.

Just south of Houston Street, intersecting with Broadway, SoHo is a focal point for individuals who appreciate and possess creative talent of all kinds. West Broadway is the district's main thoroughfare, lined with avant-garde boutiques and trend-setting galleries, including a branch of the Guggenheim Museum which exhibits both contemporary collections and selections from the museum's permanent collection. The New Museum of Contemporary Arts is a major venue for innovative shows.

The area’s roots can be traced back to the 1800s, when massive cast-iron warehouses and factories were constructed to support the city's rapid industrial and manufacturing growth. With their high ceilings and tall windows, these structures were rediscovered by New York's art community more than three decades ago and now house an eclectic collection of shops, coffeehouses, restaurants, lofts, and small businesses.

Lower Manhattan’s dining attractions are a culinary melting pot - from health foods to hot dogs, sushi to pastry, salad bars, delis and bakeries, coffee bars, bagel shops and international bistros - you're sure to find it here.

It's an environment that stimulates creativity, and helps students of The Art Institute of New York City reach their full potential.
