Feature Film Location

The Art Institute of New York City was the site of a three day shoot of an independent film entitled, 7 to the Palace.  It is a low-budget film centering on an Indian Restaurant in Jackson Heights. Floyd Cardoz, chef at Tabla is the food stylist.  Padma Lakshmi, star of Top Chef, will make an appearance.

Dean Winters, an actor who appears in 30 Rock, plays a part, as well as Kevin Corrigan who appeared in Super Bad.  A very well-known Indian actor, Naseeruddin Shah, plays a prominent role. The star of the movie is also the writer, Aasif Mandvi, who has appeared on The Daily Show.  Madhur Jaffrey, known as the Indian Julia Child also worked on the film.

Three Art Institute of New York City Culinary students served as line cook extras in the film – Timothy McJunkin, Caroline Tambini and Tiffany Chin; Eddie Soto, a Video Production student functioned as a Production Assistant.

This real world experience is very valuable for students in many of Art Institute of New York City programs.
