Students shine behind the camera at TriBeCa Film Festival
Watch the Videos

Once again, The Art Institute of New York City was actively involved in this world-class festival.

Under the leadership of Project Manager/student Dan LaBarbera, and with the invaluable support of Video Production Chair Karen Dillon, ten of our students filmed virtually all events taking place during the festival week.

The crew sported (large) press credentials, and thus had access to all red carpet events.  They were dressed in black collared shirts and hats with Ai logos. They filmed premiers, seminars, etc., then edited the footage, providing it to TriBeCa officials as quickly as possible. This sometimes entailed editing late into the night.

Footage was used on the Festival website.  In addition, this footage was sometimes used by TV stations, especially WNBC, “proud sponsor of the TriBeCa Film Festival.”

Students gained valuable experience, not in just the real world, but in the world of international entertainment; the footage will be invaluable for their reels.  Most students cite the opportunity to work with the festival as a highlight of their program.

Art Institute of New York City has partnered with the TriBeCa Film Festival and Scholastic Kids Press Corps (elementary age students ates 8 – 12 who conduct interviews) since 2003.
