Alan Cusolito

Academic Director — Industrial Design 

Industrial Design Academic Director Alan Cusolito has over 20 years experience in the design and production of children's toys and consumer products. He has worked in product development and design for Tomy Corporation with all product lines, for Harbro Industries in male action and vehicle design and has designed scuba diving equipment for Scubapro, a division of Johnson Wax. He then joined Mattel Inc as design manager in product development and design for 12 years.

With Mattel, Alan spent five years in the preschool toys division and went on to help successfully launch the Mattel Games division. His product designs achieved the heights of consumer success and won handfuls of industry awards from the Toy Manufacturers Association, Toy Industry Association's T.O.T.Y. (Toy of the Year) Awards and Family Fun Magazine. His product designs with Mattel include Harry Potter's Levitating Challenge, Uno Attack, Disney Trivia and the See ‘n Say preschool line. He successfully led project teams to win product license agreements with Disney, Pixar, Paramount, Viacom/Nickelodeon, Warner Bros., Miramax, Fisher Price, Sesame Workshop and the BBC.

Alan's experience ranges from small mechanism engineering, graphic design, prototype fabrication and product concept, design and development. Alan served as part-time industrial design faculty member at Otis College of Art & Design for six years. He holds a bachelor's of science degree in industrial design from Art Center College of Art and Design, where he majored in product design and minored in transportation design.
