Part-Time Disability Services Coordinator

This position isn’t for everyone, just those with the talent and the drive to create a truly accessible educational environment for people with disabilities.
The successful candidate will provide support and assistance to students with special needs. This position will also screen, implement and coordinate disability services to eligible candidates, while promoting and ensuring a barrier-free environment for all Art Institute students.
Responsibilities include advocating for the needs of students with disabilities throughout the campus community, as well as coordinating policies, procedures, programs and services that affect this student population. This position will also provide consultative and training assistance to the campus community on issues and policies related to disabilities, assist faculty in making necessary classroom accommodations and curricular adaptations, and assist staff in making co-curricular adaptations for program accessibility. Other duties include serving as a liaison to community agencies and other disabilities services professionals throughout the state, as well as maintaining current community contacts and resources and acting as liaison when appropriate.
This position requires a master’s degree in counseling, social work, student personnel administration or related field and 3 years of related responsibility in disability services and/or student affairs in a post-secondary institution. Demonstrated knowledge of disability services trends and the accommodation of students is essential. Must possess strong interpersonal abilities to interact with students and faculty, as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills. Superior organizational, multi-tasking, prioritization and problem resolution skills are required, along with the ability to perform under pressure and meet deadlines. Must work effectively as either a leader or a member of a team. Strong computer and analytical skills are essential. Must be able to comply with regulatory requirements regarding student academic records and other documentation.
