Fashion Lab Manager

POSITION DESCRIPTION
Title: Fashion Lab Manager
Department: Academic Affairs
Position Summary: The Fashion Lab Manager position is responsible for organizing and managing the School's sewing labs and fashion storage and supply room.
Key Job Elements:
Maintain inventory control of fabric and other supplies in the fashion storeroom. Properly disburse all fashion supplies. Perform all procurement-related duties including pricing and timing of orders. Ensure that products delivered are those that were ordered. Assist students with supplies that have been donated for in-class usage. Maintain storeroom and all sewing labs in an orderly fashion.
Responsible for supply budget compliance. Maintain accurate records of supplies. Issue purchase orders and enter data into Lawson to allow for tracking. Produce reports as required.
Perform routine preventative maintenance on Singer, Singer Serger and Merrow sewing machines and other equipment in all sewing labs. Perform simple repairs on this equipment. Determine when outside repairs are appropriate and make recommendations for replacements for equipment.
Assist Admissions Department activities giving tours and in fostering strong working relationship with area high schools and vocational schools as needed. Assist Academic Director with organizing the Fashion Department's Open House functions and in presenting the Remedial Construction Test-Out option during Orientations.
Assist in Middle States assessment activities including logging of garments collected for that purpose.
Assist with the supervision of student interns and student workers assigned to Fashion Department.
Other duties as assigned.
Organizational Relationships:
Reports to: Academic Director for Fashion
Supervises: Assistant Fashion Lab Manager, student workers, student interns
Interacts with: Students, faculty, staff and other internal and external constituencies.
Position Requirements:
Associate degree or equivalent experience working with similar equipment in a paid capacity.
Experience in storeroom management operations and inventory control desirable.
Excellent communication skills. Ability to work effectively as a team member. Commitment to excellent customer service.
Problem solving ability. Good organizational abilities. Attention to detail.
