Title: Housekeeping/Maintenance for Department of Residence Life

Department: Maintenance

Position Summary: Responsible for the upkeep of the residence building including cleaning, polishing floors, touch-up painting, light plumbing and electrical repairs, assisting in room preparation for move-in and alerting the property manager of issues needing attention in order to provide a safe, secure and clean environment for students and staff. Must be flexible and able to effectively communicate and answer the needs for employees and students.

Key Job Elements: 

  1. Accountable, under the direction of the Assistant Director of Residence Life for Facilities Management, for physical building operations and cleanliness.
  2. Perform housekeeping duties including cleaning, polishing floors, and touch-up painting and assist in room preparation for move-in.
  3. Check proper operation of heating systems, air conditioning, and plumbing, water system, gas, electrical, locks and other mechanical systems as necessary.
  4. Provide proper repair with basic carpentry, ballast replacement, painting and plastering.
  5. Upon approval of the property manager, schedule repairs and maintenance when necessary with outside vendors.
  6. Other duties as assigned by AiPH Assistant Director of Residence Life for Facilities Management.

Interacts with:

All levels of AiPH employees on a daily basis.

Position Requirements:

  1. 2 years experience in building maintenance and janitorial service.
  2. Knowledge of building systems.
  3. Ability to work effectively with contract vendors and employees while providing excellent internal customer service.
  4. Strong work ethic.
  5. Excellent interpersonal skills and detail orientation
  6. Ability to lift a minimum of 75 pounds.
  7. Willingness to carry emergency maintenance phone approximately 1 week per month.
  8. Ability to work some evenings and weekends, as needed.

Environment:

  1. Work closely with the Assistant Director of Residence Life for Facilities Management to continuously improve the condition of the residence building to a degree acceptable to the community, staff, and students at all times.
  2. Display an attitude of quality service to employees and students.
  3. Assure that all equipment is in working order at all times.
  4. Diligently pursue maintenance request orders and complete as soon as time permits.
  5. Respond to activities that arise regarding the buildings and equipment
